One of my favourite songs is Weight of the World from the NieR:Automata soundtrack. The song describes the immense pressure someone can put on themselves when taking on difficult complex tasks. The song’s resolution is to share the burden with others rather than carrying it alone.
A close friend recently asked me what I was passionate about. I struggled to answer.
The world is complex. Hundreds of meaningful, larger-than-life problems that nip at the heels of the human spirit. I have always been passionate about helping solve these issues. Taking on the passion without a community seems crushing.
Having moved around the world, I don’t have that support network at the moment. I need to find the space and friends and colleagues to pursue solutions, and have the room for failure.
I’m beginning to understand.
